Marondera, formerly known as Marandellas, is a town in Mashonaland East, Zimbabwe, located about 72 km east of Harare. It is the provincial capital of Mashonaland East Province and is an important regional service centre for substantial parts of Mashonaland East and Manicaland provinces.
Marondera was founded in 1890 as a rest house on the road from Harare to Mutare. It was named after Marondera, chief of the ruling Barozwi people.
